The Same River
My name is Adam.
I am 21.
I live in Santa Cruz, California.
I am a musician, a composer to be more specific.
I love people, connections between them, those who are shy and have a lot of interesting things to say, musicians or artists of any kind, people who just like music a lot, people who like to do things outdoors, people who are obsessive over good writing and spelling (but who also can respect the fact that language evolves and changes, and don't attack others over it), people who care about how our culture impacts the environment and want to change it/tear it down/do something meaningful, people who like video game music and aren't ashamed of it, people who are passionate about life and who live it vicariously, people who are good at self love and self care (in a non-arrogant way!), and most of all, nice people. Whatever that means. :p
Needless to say, I also like run-on sentences.
Things/people/places I blog about semi-regularly:
Porcupine Tree/Steven Wilson
Riverside/Mariusz Duda
Hans York
Progressive Rock
Stuff from Poland
Obscure music no one has heard of (often from Poland)
Music in general
Mortal Engines
Video games (mostly SNES era ones)/game music
My own music
My life
Environmentalism
Anarchism/indigenism, occasionally, though I feel kind of shy about that side of myself
Political things
Sweet's Mill (the wonderful music camp I frequent every summer)

My cover of Porcupine Tree’s ‘Pure Narcotic’, from Stupid Dream.
Kinda shitty, but ah well. Also, if you’ve hung out with me in person when I have a guitar ever, you will likely have heard me do this a million times, so feel free to ignore this.

Porcupine Tree — Sleep of No Dreaming
from Anesthetize (live 2008)A lot of times I just prefer the album version, but whatever. Anesthetize rules too much.
Posting this song because it’s great and it’s the one I’m currently mucking up with a computer and my stupid voice because I caaaaaaan.

Abigail’s Ghost - Cerulean Blue
A followup to my previous posts about bands ripping off ‘The Creator Has A Mastertape’.
I also just realized how ridiculous the title of their first album is, especially in light of this song and others on that album.

No Brain Cell - Endless Game
This is the song I was talking about that seems to take a lot of influence from ‘The Creator Had A Mastertape’.

Abigail’s Ghost = an example of how to rip off In Absentia era Porcupine Tree and be unoriginal about it.
No Brain Cell = an example of how to rip off In Absentia era Porcupine Tree and make some awesome fucking music that takes the influence of PT and turns it into something relatively new and refreshing, though sometimes slightly awkward.
However, both of them for some reason really like ripping off of ‘The Creator Had A Mastertape’.
I don’t understand, what the hell is so appealing about that song so that two bands have sections in their songs that resemble it?

The beginnings of a Collapse the Light Into Earth cover.
I don’t care who you are, if you have a shitty microphone and shitty recording software, I don’t care, and if you like Porcupine Tree/this song, you should sing with me!
I’ll sequence the rest of this soon (it’s really, really easy, since the song is so simple, aside from the string arrangements, and even those are pretty easy), I just figured this’d be a good start to show everyone who might care what I’m up to.

Any of you with a microphone and a means of recording digitally, you should sing with me on this cover of Collapse the Light Into Earth that I’m doing.
Message me and I will give you a link/we’ll make a dropbox folder.
I’ll post what I’ve done so far in a little bit. :)
