The Same River
My name is Adam.
I am 21.
I live in Santa Cruz, California.
I am a musician, a composer to be more specific.
I love people, connections between them, those who are shy and have a lot of interesting things to say, musicians or artists of any kind, people who just like music a lot, people who like to do things outdoors, people who are obsessive over good writing and spelling (but who also can respect the fact that language evolves and changes, and don't attack others over it), people who care about how our culture impacts the environment and want to change it/tear it down/do something meaningful, people who like video game music and aren't ashamed of it, people who are passionate about life and who live it vicariously, people who are good at self love and self care (in a non-arrogant way!), and most of all, nice people. Whatever that means. :p
Needless to say, I also like run-on sentences.
Things/people/places I blog about semi-regularly:
Porcupine Tree/Steven Wilson
Riverside/Mariusz Duda
Hans York
Progressive Rock
Stuff from Poland
Obscure music no one has heard of (often from Poland)
Music in general
Mortal Engines
Video games (mostly SNES era ones)/game music
My own music
My life
Environmentalism
Anarchism/indigenism, occasionally, though I feel kind of shy about that side of myself
Political things

Adam Mussell - The Solar Dance (final battle)
From “A Tale of Xandopheii OST (outtakes)”
This was something I was working on before I released my album, with the intention of including it. However, I didn’t end up finishing this until now. Honestly I think I mixed it a bit too loud… but I don’t feel like messing with it any more at this point.
So here, have an epic final battle theme with lots of choir parts, thematic development everywhere, and a shit tonne of dissonance.

Adam Mussell - Passage Behind The Throne/Machinist’s Lab
Just something I wrote this morning as an exercise to see if I could still write orchestral things (which I need to do sometimes for the sake of not getting rusty).

So, despite what I said about my album being released on March 1st… I managed to get everything uploaded early, so as a result, it’s officially released… today!
After several years of thinking about releasing an album of my orchestral music, it’s finally done. A lot of this music is older stuff, and if you’ve paid close attention to what I’ve uploaded sporadically to facebook or tumblr, you’ve probably heard some of this. But some of this stuff hasn’t really been on the internet yet, so you should go check it out. It’s about an hour and a half worth of music, so maybe not a one-sitting affair.
Anyhow, if you are feeling poor, it’s a donation based download, and you can get it for free if you want, though since this is so much music and I have at least some pride in what I’ve created, I suppose it’s not too out there to suggest at least a $5 donation to help support future musical endeavors. This stuff is very much a labor of love for me, since I’ve been an enthusiast for game music for a very long time, and really what matters more to me about this is just that it gets heard by as many people as possible.
So spread it around!

Back to my old tricks. Terranigma had a nice OST. This stands out as one of my favorites because how it uses the themes from earlier in the game and what not. Love this game.
This piece of music is such an inspiration to how I write music when incorporating thematic things. Ahhh, so good.

Boss Battle theme from Final Fantasy 4 on Euphonium
this is cool
really cool.
Do you have the sheet music for this arrangement? This is amazing. o_o
I’ve really been meaning to get into Final Fantasy, since Nobuo Uematsu’s music is wonderful.
This… is awesome.

Other Works by Shira Kammen:
- While it seems Braid is the only game which uses her music, Shira Kammen is known for her Folk and Early-styled compositions. She has both played and taught music across the world, and has had some of her compositions played in TV series and movies; including a independent film about the fans of JRR Tolkien’s works. According to her website, the weirdest place she has ever performed her music was in an elephant pit of a Jerusalem Zoo.
